After Graduation from Concordia Theological Seminary in May of 1987, Mark accepted the call to serve Zion Lutheran Church of Winnemucca, along with Christ's Mission of Battle Mountain and Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ely, Nevada.  He currently serves Zion Lutheran Church of Winnemucca and Christ Lutheran Church of Battle Mountain, Nevada.  Both congregations have strong Preschool programs.  He conducts Chapel each week at each location.

A lifelong Lutheran, Mark's childhood was spent in NW Oklahoma on a small farm. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lipscomb, Texas.  He confirmed his Christian faith at Christ Lutheran Church, Shattuck, Oklahoma in 1967 where his family also has long history.  He moved to Derby, Kansas following the death of his parents and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Derby.  Following graduation from Derby Senior High School, he enrolled at St. John's Junior College, Winfield, Kansas.  He continued his education at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Fisheries Resources.  After a few months of work in the Wildlife field, and then logging for a few years, he enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, eventually earning a Master of Divinity in 1987.

Mark married Debbie Rogness in July of 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Enid, Oklahoma. The Lord blessed Mark and Debbie with two girls and two boys; Alaine, Katherine, Jason, and Jacob.  Those children all are married and have blessed them with two granddaughters and ten grandsons.
